I study mass flows in mountain environments — rock-ice avalanches, debris flows, and glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) — with a particular interest in the cascades of processes that emerge when these phenomena interact. Using numerical models of varying complexity and scale, from highly localized simulations to basin-wide assessments, I work to better understand and anticipate these hazards. Much of my research is grounded in the Himalayas, where I have studied rock-ice avalanches in Northern India and am currently investigating cascade processes in Nepal.
