Fiona Federer
PhD candidate
University of Zurich
I am a PhD candidate employed at University of Zurich working on the AguaSegura project aiming to advance climate change adaptation for water security in the Andes of Peru. We develop a transdisciplinary approach to inclusively identify effective adaptation and its limits in high-Andean glaciated catchments. In order to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange, as well as to gain context-relevant insights for my research, I am being hosted by the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú in Lima for the second half of my PhD programme.
I completed my studies in Geography at University of Zurich and my Master thesis focused on the identification and quantification of limits to adaptation in the water sector. Alongside my research, I am completing a diploma for upper-secondary geography teaching and bring a background in applied GIS and natural risk prevention in the private sector, adding a practice-grounded perspective to my academic focus.
