We are proud to share a new publication led by EClim member Laura Niggli, co-authored by several EClim researchers:
“GLOF Risk Management Experiences and Options: A Global Overview”.

Glacier lake outburst floods (GLOFs) are a growing concern across glacierized mountain regions. This comprehensive study reviews decades of global experiences in GLOF disaster risk management (DRM), providing a valuable classification and evaluation of both structural and non-structural DRM measures. It highlights challenges such as harsh environmental conditions, changing hazard dynamics, and institutional complexity—offering guidance for future best practices in GLOF risk reduction.
